is the Timeframe
- April 15, 2004- EPA makes its nationwide designations for 8-hour ozone non-attainment. Included are Anderson, Blount, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon and Sevier County and that portion of Cocke County in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park as Basic non-attainment areas.
- June 15, 2004- Official non-attainment status for the region’s counties goes into effect.
- December 17, 2004- the counties of Anderson, Blount, Knox, Sevier and a portion of Roane were designated in non-attainment of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) standard for fine particulate matter pollution (PM 2.5).
- April 5, 2005- official non-attainment status for PM 2.5 goes into affect
- April 22, 2005- A single Long Range Transportation Plan meeting 8-hour ozone conformity determination regulations for all counties listed in the Knoxville region as non-attainment must be in place.
- April 5, 2006- PM 2.5 conformity determination regulations for all PM 2.5 non-attainment counties must be in place
- June 15, 2009- All counties in the Knoxville non-attainment area must show attainment of the
8-hour ozone standard.
- April 2010- all PM 2.5 designated non-attainment counties in the Knoxville Region must be in attainment
