RCAC Air Care Awards Given to Three Local Organizations
KNOXVILLE , TN. –The Regional Clean Air Coalition (RCAC) is putting out a call for entries for the first annual Air Care Awards. This is an opportunity to nominate and recognize businesses/organizations that took voluntary actions to improve East Tennessee ’s air quality throughout 2005. The Air Care Awards program, sponsored by the East Tennessee RCAC, was established as a way to recognize businesses/ organizations for their accomplishments in air quality.
Nominations were submitted for the following organizations: BCAAT, Inc.; Cities of Alcoa, Maryville, Blount County with ALCOA, Inc. - Government/Industry Clean Air Partnership; DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc.; Knox County CAC Transit; Knoxville Area Transit; Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB); TDOT Region 1; University of Tennessee; and White Realty. |

The nominations were judged by a committee of RCAC Board Members. They selected three nominees to receive the first annual RCAC Air Care Awards:
Cities of Alcoa, Maryville, Blount County with ALCOA, Inc. - Government/Industry Clean Air Partnership
DENSO Manufacturing Tennessee, Inc.
Knoxville Area Transit (KAT)
The awards were open to public and private entities, educational institutions, media organizations, and service organizations who have voluntarily taken actions to promote cleaner air that have gone above and beyond regulations. |

The East Tennessee Regional Clean Air Coalition was formed in 2003 by 11 East Tennessee County Mayors so that efforts to improve air quality throughout the region could be coordinated. The RCAC consists of committees formed by representatives from government, business and industry, educational institutions and the general public throughout the multi-county Knoxville region collectively focused on creating, promoting and implementing strategies to improve air quality.
